I applaud the Washington State House and Senate for passing this historic bill to legalize gay marriage in our state. Once this bill is signed by the Governor, Washington will become the 7th state to grant marriage equality – moving us yet one step closer to full federal recognition. As I continue the fight to repeal DOMA, I can proudly point to our state as an example of the dignity and respect that all Americans should enjoy.
Tomorrow (Feb. 4), I will be hosting my 7th “Coffee with your Congressman” event, this time on Vashon Island. I especially like these events because they allow me to hear directly from you about issues facing our country. If you’re interested in discussing the economy, health care, Citizens United/campaign finance reform, the wars or any other topic, please join me at The Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie at 10 a.m. (for details about the event, click here: http://j.mp/AhOZBh). I am currently planning other neighborhood coffee events for March and April in Seattle and will let you know when those events are confirmed.http://j.mp/AhOZBhj.mp
